Wooden Ornaments for Yvonne Blair Designs

0

Oh I love home crafted Christmas ornaments. Every year I try and make a few new ornaments for my tree. This has become a tradition that my family looks forward to each year. Today, I would like to share with you one of  this year's new designs using Yvonne's Compass stamp from Impression Obsession.

http://www.iostamps.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=C17123&Store_Code=IOSTAMPS&search=Compass&searchoffset=&filter_cat=&PowerSearch_Begin_Only=&sort=&range_low=&range_high=

You can also use several of Yvonne's other stamps, I give you some ideas in the video link below.

For the base of the ornament I'm using these wooden shapes I grabbed at a local craft shop. This bag was under $5 and as you can see we will be able to make lot of ornaments.

I filled in the knots on the wood with Modeling paste so that I can get a smooth surface  for stamping.  You can leave these natural with  a white wash of gesso or you can paint them if you like.
In the video below, I will share with you two versions that I created, so that you can decide which technique you like best.   But both are gorgeous.

It was easier to add the foiling  on the chalkboard version because the paint helped to make the surface smooth.  But if natural look is what you like, I think it turned it nice as well. It is just harder to see the foiling.  If you decided to go with this technique, I suggest bold and heavy designs for your stamping. Thick and large fonts will show up better.

Here is the video sharing how I did the technique.

Watch on YouTube
Wasn't that fun?   I want to make a bunch these. They would be great to add to packages, and share with your friends and family.  Or create a set and give them as a gift.  Thank you so much for hanging out with me today.

Love Summer Art - Wander Tag

4

Hey bloggers - welcome to day 1 of the #LoveSummerArt collaborative project with YouTube Artists around the WORLD!  The event runs from July 17 - 20th.  To find these artist,  just type #LoveSummerArt  in your YouTube search bar.

This is a super fun way for you to discover new artists on YouTube, and be inspired by their work. All genres of art are participating - Exciting Right!     I've already met some super talented artists, just in the planning stage.

Today, I'm sharing with you a Mixed Media Tag that I've created using up some of those pesky  scraps and "one hit wonders" that I have laying around on my desk. My tag base is a pair of my husband's old jeans  - trust me - they have never looked this pretty, EVER!

My project was actually inspired by the Wander Philosophy Tags from Tim Holtz.  In the Summer you should always "Wander" or "travel" and explore. What better to illustrate this philosophy than a Dragon Fly - Right?  Here in Florida, we have these black dragon flies that have this beautiful teal iridescent colors, but at first glance they look black. I wanted to duplicate this effect on my tag.  I used Lindy's Stamp Gang, Vellum and an IndigoBlu Dragonfly stamp.   In the video I will show you how I created this handsome little fellow to mimic the ones in my garden!

Here is the video showing how I created this tag from Start To Finish

Thanks for stopping in today! Don't forget to check back tomorrow, where I will be sharing a Layout Process video.

Thanks,
Tonya Gibbs

Gelli Prints Journal Page 4 - Possibilities

9

Wow - this has really been a fun project.  I have really enjoyed creating these spreads each week.  Today, I'm going to share with you page 4 in my Gelli® Print Art Journal book that I created in the June 1, 2015 Ustream.  I've linked up the previous page posts and the Ustream down below for your convenience.

I'm really loving today's spread, the colors are so bright and vibrant. It screams Florida Sunshine, and summer fun.    This spread has inspired me to create a summer layout using these colors and techniques.  I guess this is why art journaling is so fun - it helps to kick start the brain.  Look at all those yummy colors and textures in the background.

I started by cutting strips from different patterns of prints that we pulled in the class.   This eclectic patterns work well together because they share the same stamps, stencils and colors. Whenever you are working with a completely flat layout,  adding shadows to your elements, created depth, and helps things to pop.  To pull everything together, I created my shadows with the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® Stamper's Big Brush Artist Pen in Crimson #134.  The purple/pink pigment in this marker helps to keep my layout bright and sunny.

PSSSS -  Guess what?   A little birdie told me that the Stamper's Big Brush pens are on sale for a limited time for $3.09 at DickBlick.com.  I'm not being paid to advertise this sale, just like to pass the savings on to you guys when I can ;)

My go to pen for doodling after trying out all the ones I have, is the Marvy Reminisce. Once the ink is dry it is permanent and really does stand up against the gel mediums.  They make this pen in other colors so I may just need to invest in them.  I bought these at JoAnns and it was very reasonably priced. I couldn't find it online  at Joann.com  so I'm going to link it to Amazon.com.

Here is the video showing you how I created this spread.

As stated in the video.  The IndigoBlu - Rugged Edges Stamp designed by Limor Webber Designs, is my favorite stamp set. I think this is going to be one of those stamps that stands the test of time.

Here are links to the previous posts showing the other pages...

I hope you are enjoying this series. Remember if you are following along, please #FollowingTonyaGibbs  in your social media outlets. I would love to see what you are creating.

Gelli Print Journal Page 3 - Reflect

7

Welcome to page three of my Gelli® Print Art Journal that we started in the June 1 Ustream.Missed the Ustream, and page 2?

Here are the links to the posts so that you can catch up:

Today, I used the numbers that I had printed backwards when I was trying to clean off my embossing folder. Since they were backwards, I was inspired to reference the word "reflect" as my quote on the page.   I found this really cool quote that I thought would be neat to use. It goes with my inspirational theme, and really gave me something to think about!

I used the Tim Holtz  Typeset Diecut  to cut out my letters  Since the background was so busy, I stuck with a piece of yellow scrap cardstock, then used my Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® Stamper's Big Brush Artist Pens to accent the word Learn.  Outlining around the letters, gave them more weight, and helped them to pop off the page.

When doing my doodles, on the left side, I decided to fill each "bubble" with the words used in the quote.   Remember that camera warranty paper I used for one of the prints?  It was used as one of my circles in the upper left hand corner, under the word "think".  I love that you can see the oriental text peek-a-booing out from behind the orange.

I also stitched over both pages before adding them to the book. You can barely see the stitching, but it offers a nice texture to my background.   Love all these vivid colors too.  So fun, and inspiring.

Here is a video tutorial showing how I created this spread.

Don't forget if you are following along #FollowingTonyaGibbs in your social media outlets.  I would love to see what you create!

Thanks for stopping in today.

Inspiration Mixed Media Tag

4

Hi, everyone,  wow  I feel like it has been forever since I was able to get any real Inky Finger Fun Time.  I've been moving into a new home, and had LOTS of things to unpack.  I have to tell myself to get the yuck stuff done first before the fun times, or I'll never get back to the YUCK stuff.  Do you know what I mean?  Funny thing, when you start moving and cleaning inspiration finds you EVERYWHERE.   I would find an old product that I forgot about, and BOOM I wanted to play.  I would see something new and BOOM I wanted to play.  Well I'm all settled in (a few minor chores left to deal with), and the fun times are rolling on in!

Today I'm honored to be a guest designer over on Limor Webber's Blog. I have created a tag tutorial, and hope you have a chance to stop over and take a look at the video tutorial.

I'm using the BRAND NEW Limor Webber Designs - Limor Circles Stamps by IndigoBlu.   She just restocked them, so if you have been looking for them, click the link above and grab them up!  They have been a sell out world wide for over a month now!

http://www.limorwebber.com/product/limor-circles-limor-webber-designs-stamps-by-indigoblu/

This is one of my favorite sets in her latest collection.  I think I've used them on everything since I got them!    This set has 21 stamps, giving you endless possibilities for using them! I'm so happy for Limor's success, her new collection has been a sell out world wide.  Great news though - Limor recently restocked them in her store, so get them while you can!

Here is a look at the finished tag.   Isn't it GORGEOUS?    You can find details about my process, and a video tutorial over on her blog today!

With Love Canvas Recap

1

Thank you to everyone who came to my debuted show as a Guest Designer for Limor Webber Designs on Ustream. I had a great time meeting so many new friends!  I thank Limor for the opportunity.

We created this canvas filled with lots of YUMMY texture.

If you missed the show, you can access the recording from Limor's Ustream:

In this tutorial  I featured the new stamps designed by Limor Webber and manufactured by IndigoBlu.  These stamps are selling out World Wide!  I'm so happy and excited for Limor's success.

Here are a list of supplies:

For the chipboard butterfly, I used a chipboard mini album that I had in my stash.  However, if you don't have one, I'm including a pattern here for you to download and use as a template for cutting the butterfly out of Med. Weight chipboard.   I don't recommend recycled packaging as you will see both sides of the butterfly and you don't want the printing visible through the painted layers. Here is the butterfly.  Please print at 100% so that the size is accurate (click the image below to see the full size).

Thanks for stopping in today. If you decided to create this canvas, I hope you share it with me on Facebook!

February Sketch and Dare Challenge for Die-namites

2

Hi everyone, Where did January go?  Yep it is now mid February and time to start thinking about Valentine's Day. I feel like Christmas just ended!

Today I would like to remind everyone about the Sketch & Dare Challenge at Die-namites Dies.

The dare this month is to use a heart!

I used the Summer Branch and Heart Doily Dies from Die-namites for my card today:

http://www.die-namites.com/Summer-Branch_p_63.html     http://www.die-namites.com/Heart-Doily_p_138.html

For today's card,  I also wanted to highlight a few yummies
recently released  by IndigoBlu

http://www.limorwebber.com/product/splattered-heart-limor-webber-designs-stamps-by-indigoblu/
IndigoBlu FlitterGlu Kit in Box
A5 Tuff Storage Box
FlitterGlu (50ml with Easy clean nozzle)Phat Foam
Scoochy sponge
Palette Knife
1x Winter Dawn
Instruction Sheet
All you need to get started, in a box.

This kit includes everything you need to start producing fantastic foil effects. Simply choose your stamp and have some fun creating great cards and decorations.

I chose the new Splattered Heart Stamp that was designed by my good friend Limor Webber.  I love the grungy splatter effect and thought it would make a great accent with the foiling.

http://www.limorwebber.com/product/splattered-heart-limor-webber-designs-stamps-by-indigoblu/

Together these products helped produce the drama needed for this card.  I love how the delicate Summer Branch Die easily takes the foiling after it has been die-cut.  By combining the splatters from the stamp with the Flitter foil, I was able to give my card the look of Fireworks!

Here is a process video showing how I made this card:

I love how easily I was able to add the flakes to my delicate die-cut.   Foiling is so HOT right now, so this system makes it super simple to create dramatic cards, that remain flat enough to mail!

Thanks for stopping in today,

Tonya
