Birthday Card and Die-Namites May Challenge

0
Happy Mother's Day -  I hope you have an amazing day today!
I've created a card using the sketch from the May Sketch & Dare Challenge.

Have you submitted your project for the Die-Namites May Sketch & Dare challenge?
Don't let the time get away from you!

http://www.die-namitesblog.com/2014/05/mays-sketch-challenge-dienamites-dare_5.html

Rules can be found here!  What are you waiting for?

You have until the last day of the month to post your creation on your blog,
with mention of the Die~Namites Die used and a link back to the Die~Namites Dies blog.
Link your blog post, using Inlinkz, to the Die~Namites Die blog.

A random winner will be chosen from eligible participants for a
$25 Gift Certificate to the Die~Namites Dies.

Here is a glimpse at the sketch.

For today's card I used three dies from Die-Namites

The Spring Doily is so delicate and creates the perfect background for my floral spray.  I used standard weight copy paper to cut the doily so that it would remain soft and light weight.

Before die-cutting my Winter Bouquet flowers, I Pre-Gessoed the cardstock.  Then used my Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft pens to color them.   I love how they look variegated in yellow, orange and pink.  To smooth the colors together, I spritz them and the focal point flower with the Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Gold Lume!  (YES, I'm still on a midas kick).

I cut the branches off the Leafy Branch and adhered them around a glue dot in multiple layers to create the flower in the focal point of my card.  To finish off all of my flower centers I added a Webster's Pages Sparkler.

I love how my focal flower mimics the same shape as the sunflowers in the Winter Bouquet Die.
I can't wait to see what you create with this sketch challenge and dare.

Thanks for stopping in today,
Tonya

Card and Sketch

0
Happy Friday!   I have a super fun, cheerful card and sketch to share with you today!

This entire card was inspired by the one roll of washi tape!  (I believe it is Recollections brand!)

So I went into my stash and found these two tapes to coordinate with the dominate tape.

TIP: When picking out tape, if you have a BOLD pattern as your dominate, select coordinating tapes in smaller widths and softer patterns to contrast your focal tape selection.

I then set out to create a sketch for my card!

Look at how fun my card turned out!  The bright colors of the tape are festive and fun!

I took a small doily and sprayed it with Dylusions Ink Spray in  Lemon Zest. Then Spritzed it with Heidi Swapp's Gold Lume color shine.

This sketch would also be great for using up some small scraps of paper.  You guys know now much I love to use up my scraps.

I hope you enjoyed this card.

Thanks for stopping in today,

Tonya

Hello Card Tutorial by Tonya Gibbs

2

Happy Friday my crafty peeps,  I hope you have an exciting weekend planned. Last summer the Teresa Collins Memorabilia line was one of the hottest selling Artsy Addicts kits. I still had a few pieces left over, and wanted to finish off the kit.

First I came up with a design, and decided to share my sketch with you guys...

My challenge was to have 95% of the card come from the kit and the other 5% from the scrap pile.  NOTHING NEW WAS USED TO MAKE THIS CARD.

Here is a process video of me making the card..

This design is super clean and simple, and will easily transfer to some other collections that I own.

DESTASH TIP:  If  you have a lot of left overs from kits, make a stack of cards using the same sketch design. Then wrap them up and give to a friend as a gift.   I usually place a pop square on the back of a stack of sentiments. This way my friend can choose the appropriate sentiment when she is ready to mail the card.  I recommend keeping the designs flat (no bulky flowers) since the friend will most likely mail the cards.  My friends love gift sets like this, and it is a great way to de-stash a kit!   Another option is to give them to your church to mail for outreach!

Thanks for stopping in today,

Tonya

Multiple Looks - One Sketch

2
During my last Ustream on June 3 (view it here) we created a layout using this sketch from Flamingo Scraps Designer,  Melissa Williams.

We took the sketch and made it masculine with the Heidi Swapp No limits and Vintage Chic collections, and Pink Paislee's Mistables.   Loved the look and texture of this multi photo layout, that celebrates my son's passion for football.

Today I would like to share with you a layout that uses the same sketch in its feminine spirit using the Pink Paislee Hope Chest Collection.

In this version I used gesso, masks, and sprays to soften the bold pattern of the paper and give the layout more texture.  I also adhered strips of linen and pieces of hymnal pages to the page for depth and added interest.

Layers of Maya Road and Webster's pages trims soften the page and give a pop of color that draws your eye to the photograph.   Additional elements were die cut from scraps of the paper collection to create layers around the photos.  The title was cut using the Silhouette Cameo.

I love that both of these layouts look so different, but were based on the same sketch.   Have you created a layout using this sketch?  If so, please share it with me on the Flamingo Scrap's Facebook page.

Our next Ustream will be broadcast on July 1 at 8:30 est. We will be celebrating Christmas in July. I figured if I started making Christmas ornaments in July I may have them ready for Christmas (HAAA).  Hope to see you there!

Supplies for both layouts can be found at: Flamingscraps.com

Ustream Tonight - June 3

0
Please join me & Flamingo Scraps tonight, Monday, June 3 at 8:30 pm est on Ustream, as I create a layout using this sketch shared by Flamingo Scraps Designer, Melissa Williams, earlier last week on the Flamingo Scraps Blog.

This sketch is going to get a masculine twist when I use Heidi Swapp and Pink Paislee papers and embellies from Flamingo Scraps. We are going to talk about using things for an unexpected purpose, including embellishments, paper, and the sketch.

Make sure you join the crowd, http://www.ustream.tv/channel/gibbst early.

There will not be a kit this month. As always, we will do our best to record the show for those who can't make it live.
