WOW - I can't believe this is the last page in my Gelli® Print Journal. It has been so much fun, working on this project all month. Each spread is dedicated to something that will help stimulate creativity . I have linked up the other posts below for you to reference.
Today's inspiration came from this quote "Create What Sets Your Heart On Fire" WOW - think about that for just a moment. If we center our creativity around things that excite us, our work goes from craft to art! Passion becomes evident in your work. I really wanted to enforce this thought by making my "heart" look as if it is ON FIRE!
I used the same paints as we have used all month, and stenciled the flames with the Diversions Die. I love the effect this has over the heart. I also created a "stamp" with a toilet tissue role to create the yellow hearts in my spread. They look like flames lifting out of the smoke. OH I'm SO LOVING THIS!
Here is a quick video showing how this spread came together.

Tonya, you probably think I am some sort of stalker...LOL, but this final spread in this cute little "minnie" is just the stinking cutest!! I love your whole passion behind it and it so came out on this page and really the whole project! Thank you so much for your inspiration on this project. I have started to gather things to make my own little minnie! I can't remember where you said you got the muslin, but can I get it just like at the Walmart fabric department or is that something that is a specialty thing? Or if so, would there be a substitute? I have never really used fabric in a project before (I DON'T SEW! LOL) Thanks again and many blessings to you! :)
ReplyDeleteNO I wouldn't consider you a stalker just a super loyal fan :). I'm so happy you have enjoyed this series and you are planning to create one yourself. I can't wait to see it! HONEY I don't sew either - only on paper (LOL). The muslin is common at all places where fabric is sold. It is usually found in the section that has the interfacing and canvas on a bolt (YES Walmart Fabric Centers have it). It is a super thin cotton type fabric. Also it is super inexpensive too! It comes in two varieties Bleached and Unbleached. I used bleached in this project.
DeleteMy favorite page by far!
ReplyDeletei love the flames... not sure i'm personally ready to cut up a hymnal but i LOVE the idea (and i think it would be a great journal for many of us) ... on the other hand as i think about it more i LOVE the idea of the old hymnal being re-used!
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous - thanks for being an inspiration
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it. Can we get together and play?
ReplyDeleteAnother fun one!! Those paper roll cores sure come in handy for crafts - don't they!!
ReplyDeleteThis piece is so inspirational. Love the quote.
